Fosforesk is a project by Dirk de Bruin, a creative contriver from Eindhoven (NL).
This project studies the possibilities of a laser projected on a phosphorescent canvas, defying the limits of both mediums. It is an extension of the 3D (and 4D) drawing and physics environment that he designed to generate vector images and display them using an oscilloscope or a laser.
Dirk has always been exploring the boundaries between digital and analog to find possibilities for new creations. Other creative explorations include a setup to project interactive visuals that augment an actual painting and make it come alive while it is being painted, an algorithm to generate music using the rules and guidelines for writing classical music, a system to algorithmically generate very high resolution images and omnidirectional stereoscopic videos, and a software synthesizer called Wavepeek that gives the user full intuitive control over the shape of the sound wave (free download on maxforlive.com).
Dirk de Bruin is also the creator of the Max Laser Basics tutorial videos on youtube that explain the basics principles of vector image generation and laser projections using Max.
