My name is James Gandy and I am an artist from Florida. Working with metal and wood, I have been able to build and explore mechanical movements in drawing machines. The machine I built produces drawings in a variety of shapes, forms and patterns. Playing with concepts of geometry and physics, the outcome of a drawing is determined by ratios generated by pulleys and gears. I design, machine, and operate the device.This is a purely analog and mechanical endeavor, being that no computer is involved throughout the process. A merging of mathematics and art.
